Barangaroo Boutique Wines is a family owned and operated winery located amongst the wheat and barley fields of the Wimmera. The home of our vineyard ‘Barangaroo’ was the name of my parents’ farm in the Black Range, near the Grampians. In the 1980s the farm was sold and the name plates were handed down and we are proud to continue the family name.
The vineyard itself is planted on a ridge overlooking a timbered creek and valley beyond, with beautiful views across to Mount Arapiles in the west, and the Grampians in the east, making this an ideal frost free location, only 10 minutes south west of Horsham.
We currently have planted reds, which include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Our signature wine is the Vermentino (The new kid on the block). This is a white Italian variety from Sardinia & Corsica. Suited to our Mediterranean climate, it is a subtle and delicate wine, crisp, refreshing and tangy with a creamy finish, made in a Riesling style, best described as a soft Sav Blanc.
We are passionate and dedicated to our vines, it’s all hands on. We brave the cold of the winter months and prune each vine by hand, assessing the individuality of each snip while the vines are dormant. We tenderly care for them until picking in February/March. All our grapes are picked by hand to insure the quality of the grapes are at their optimum best for our wine maker.
